Sweepin' Their Way Into First Place

After a three game sweep of Arizona in the desert, the Reds are now tied for first place in the National League Central with the Cards' and Brewers.

This is a different Reds team, one the city of Cincinnati hasn't seen in a long time.

"Not since 1999 have I been around a team as confident as this one. They are fun to watch, win or lose, but the wins are the most fun. The music in the post-game clubhouse is so loud your ear drums vibrate."

-Hal McCoy, Hall of Fame Sports Writer who has covered the Reds for over 30 years.

The starting pitchers are going deep into games, the bullpen is holding games and the offense is starting to pick it up after a sluggish start.

Tag those along with the fact the team is full of youth with some savy veterans mixed in and plays with a bundle of energy, it's easy to see why their is so much optimism amongst not only the Reds faithful but players as well.

“Our swagger is real nice right now and our team chemistry is gorgeous, this is the best team I’ve ever played on.”
-Second Baseman Brandon Phillips

Now it's off for a three game sleepover in San Diego with the Padres. Like the D-Backs, the Padres have had many problems on offense. This could work out well for the Reds as they send two of their best pitchers to the mound the first two games of the set.

Next Game

Reds at Padres. May 15. 10:05 EST. Petco Park, San Diego, CA.

Probable Pitchers

Aaron Harang (3-3) v.s. Kevin Corriea (0-2)

Sports Dictionary: The National League Central is the Division the Reds play in. The National League is broken into three Divisions, East, West and Central. The same with the American League.

So, is this team like the 09 Cavs? Great post and nice way to back it up with quotes.
