Arroyo Near Perfect, Phillips Comes Up Big in 4-0 Victory

What a way to start a road trip.

Bronson Arroyo pitched eight scoreless innings boosting his record to 4-1, Brandon Phillips smacked a home-run, Joey Votto, well continued to be Joey Votto, and the Cincinnati Reds scored a get-em-goin' victory, notching their fourth shut-out of the year blanking the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0 at PNC Park.

It was a pitchers duel for the most part until Votto scored Willy Taveras in the sixth inning with an RBI single to center-field. Phillips then hit his third home-run of the year in the eighth to put the Reds up 2-0.

They played add on in the ninth, plating two more runs and Francisco Cordero came on in the bottom half to close down the Pirates and leave the Reds walking away smiling.

Woo-hoo! Go Reds! Yay nine scoreless innings! It's pretty impressive for a pitcher to throw that good for that long (eight innings is still a long time, right?)
